Sleep is Overrated

Last Friday was the Mother/Daughter sleepover at church for mothers and their daughters that are in kindergarten through 5th grade. We had around 40 people there, and the girls had tons of fun putting on makeup, singing karaoke, painting nails, decorating pillowcases, and eating lots of junk food (okay, okay, so that was my favorite part...there was just too much good stuff...I couldn't let it go to waste). Alli lived up to her night owl status once again as she stayed up coloring and drawing until 1 am. For those of you who knew me growing up, you can probably guess that I only made it until 11 pm. Of course, I woke up in a panic about 5 am because Alli and her stuff were no longer beside me on the floor as they had been when I feel asleep. After looking around for a few minutes, I discovered that she had managed to get invited to sleep on the air mattress with Carolyn and Emma Wachsmann. She was out cold and as comfortable as she could be, and I was sleeping on the hard floor with a blanket. There's something just not right about that. I think it took me two days to recover :). Anyway, we had a good time, and she's ready for the next one...maybe we'll be brave enough to make it an annual event.

Yes, I had a moment of weakness and turned Alli loose with real makeup. I wasn't really crazy about the colors, but she did pretty well applying it.

Karaoke, anyone? I'm not sure what they were singing here, but I think it was Shine by the Newsboys. They sang off and on all night.

Alli and some of her buddies the next morning. They look pretty good for only 5-6 hours sleep. Of course, the powdered sugar donuts and orange juice they just had may have helped!

Madi and James had a sleepover of their own while we were gone.

Sorry about not asking if you wanted to share the air mattress. You are a trooper b/c I knew I did not want to sleep on the floor. It would have taken me longer to recoup.

How fun! Glad you are recouped. And she really did do a good job with the makeup!
